History of Tybee Island, Georgia

     Approximately 2,500 locals call Tybee home with the summer population swelling to 8,000 at times.  Beach lovers from all over the world come to the Tybee Island beaches, lighthouse, and museum, Fort Screven and nearby Fort Pulaski.

     Fort Pulaski was a Civil War - era fort and is now operated by the National Park Service.

     Cumberland Island National Seashore is a short ferry ride from St. Mary's.  In the 1900s     Cumberland was the southern home of the Carnegies and the Candlers.  Many of the original mansions survive, barely, to this day.

Come and relive your childhood memories of trips to the beach. My Beach House is tucked down a private, sandy lane and is filled with unique vintage furnishings all for sale to our "Tybee Cousins".

Relax upstairs on the large  screened porch shaded by four giant palms and catch the ocean breezes with your very own "mermaid".

Just a short stroll (198) steps over the dunes to the wide sandy shore from a private beach access. My Beach House is located at the south end of the island on the beach side of Butler Avenue - no streets to cross to get to the beach. Just two blocks from "town", the pier,  beach shops, pubs and great  restaurants.

My Beach House welcomes well- behaved, flea-free pets.  There is room to sleep 10 guests. Upstairs: two bedrooms, living room  with queen futon, kitchen, breakfast room and bath. Downstairs: one bedroom, livingroom with double hide-a-bed, breakfast room and bath.  There are two separate, private entrances one for each level.

The original "summer house" sits within the fenced backyard and has been restored with it's original tongue-  in-groove pine, unpainted walls, floor and ceiling. Furnished with daybed, dresser,  game table and fans. Great get-away. Included in rental of entire house. Downstairs is handicap-accessible.  No steps at entrances. Pet friendly. Tybee Island Vacation Rental

See the Light of Historic Tybee Lighthouse from your private jasmine and rose-covered arbor. Twin Arbors is an Old Fort Screven army warehouse converted into unique beach house with two sides. Filled with vintage furnishings for sale to our "Tybee Cousins".

The Two Bedroom Side opens out into large private wooden fenced backyard shaded by giant magnolia tree with rose garden. Has living room with queen futon, satellite TV/VCR, dining room, kitchen with washer/dryer, two bedrooms with queen beds and full bath.

One bedroom is open style suite with queen bed in bedroom, dining room, living room with double futon and satellite TV/VCR, kitchen and bath. Berber carpet

Both sides have separate Central Heat and Air units.

Short walk down quiet street to nice wooden  walkover to beautiful beach on the north end of the island.  Ideal area for birdwatching  and shelling. Hear the ocean surf and ships' horns from your private arbor. Surf cast for sea bass and sea trout from the jetties at the north end.

Beach bike, cart, beach chairs, umbrella and towels provided for you.

Kitchens fully equipped.  All towels and linens provided.
